(File system) ReFS 본문
The Resilient File System (ReFS) is a file system developed by Microsoft, designed for use on Windows operating systems. It aims to improve upon the existing New Technology File System (NTFS) by enhancing data integrity, availability, and scalability. ReFS is particularly useful for scenarios involving large datasets and virtualized environments.
You can format a drive as ReFS (Resilient File System) in Windows 10 Professional and Windows 11. However, it's important to note that ReFS is primarily designed for file servers and offers advantages like better data integrity and the ability to fix corruptions while online. It's not generally recommended for consumer use.
Important Considerations:
- Not for All Windows Editions: ReFS formatting is not available in Windows 10 Home.
- Not Bootable: Windows cannot boot from an ReFS volume.
- Limited Functionality: ReFS lacks some features found in NTFS, such as per-file compression, encryption, and hard links.
- Not Recommended for General Use: While ReFS offers advantages for certain use cases, it's not generally recommended for consumer use where data is not critical or high-risk.
